HIIT with FizzUp
Why is HIIT, also known as “high-intensity interval training,” so popular? Mostly because it’s a simple, quick and effective training method that uses repeated bouts of high-intensity effort sliced by short rest periods.
During HIIT, you’ll do intervals of cardio exercise between 80 and 100% of your maximum effort, varying between 10 and 60 seconds in length. A variety of exercises can be used with the HIIT method.
Rest periods are as long as or double the length of the cardio intervals. Typically during a rest period, your body is fully at rest, but sometimes rest periods can be active to keep up your effort.
Let’s say you do jumping jacks for 30 seconds, then rest for 30 seconds. That’s HIIT. Another example is the Tabata method, which consists of 8 intervals of 20 seconds of cardio, then 10 seconds of rest.
