What’s circuit training?

Developed in England in the 1950’s by R.E. Morgan and G.T. Anderson, circuit training is the perfect method for toning your muscles and losing weight. It can be adapted to a workout program for women, whose goal would be to create a balanced and slim physique, just like it can be adapted to a workout program for men, whose goal would be to build muscles throughout the body and develop specific physical abilities.

Circuit training how-to

This training method involves a series of several exercises with very short rest times. Once you’ve completed the first series, just repeat it.

Circuit training was originally made up of a series of 4 to 12 exercises. The number of exercises can vary depending on your fitness level and goals. The idea is simple: repeat the exercises one after the other with very short rest times, ranging from 10 to 30 seconds.

It’s effectiveness is impressive. The more you do circuit training and do it regularly, the easier it will be. It requires no equipment and can be done using our online training program.

Here’s an example of a circuit training workout for beginners. Get on your knees with your torso facing the floor and do as many push-ups as you can for 30 seconds. Rest for 30 seconds. Then get into a crunch position and do as many as you can for another 30 seconds. Rest for the same duration of time. After that, do as many jumping jacks as you can for 30 seconds. Take another break, then do as many mountain climbers as you can for 30 seconds. Rest for another 30 seconds. You can do this initial workout two to three times, then with more practice, you can add more exercises and repeat the series up to five times.

Qualities you’ll develop

Circuit training is adapted to suit all levels, from beginners to experienced athletes. Getting back into fitness with a training program that uses your body weight and circuit training is a good way to quickly build strength and endurance. In fact, this training method builds your cardiovascular endurance with high-intensity exercises. You’ll be able to workout for longer. In addition to this, you’ll build all your body’s muscles because each movement works several muscle groups

By working all your muscles during circuit training, you’ll improve your posture. You’ll also be less likely to suffer from back pain.

The advantages of circuit training

Anyone can do circuit training and it offers many benefits that you don’t want to miss out on.

Save time and money

Circuit training never last longer than 20 minutes, giving you an optimized workout in minimum time. As such, you’ll quickly get visible results.

You can stop commuting to the gym and do your workout program online. Circuit training can be done anywhere and most importantly, at any time you want. You’ll save time and money as you avoid going to the gym and investing money in exercise equipment. Circuit training uses only your body weight. The advantage of bodyweight exercises is that you’ll sculpt a coordinated physique as you protect yourself from muscle imbalance caused by traditional weight machines, which don’t enable you to work all of your body’s muscles.

Sculpt your figure

Circuit training is a complete method that builds muscle and helps you melt fat. The cardio element of circuit training makes your body burn more calories and fat. You’ll improve your health by reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease thanks to how it increases your heart rate during circuit training exercises. In addition, the EPOC effect (excess post-exercise oxygen consumption) is triggered after a circuit training session, which burns fat for several hours after exercise. You’ll quickly sculpt your figure thanks to the effectiveness of circuit training.
